Eugenia Xanthopoulou-Trianti was born in Patras, to parents Georgios and Charikleia Trianti. The Trianti family hailed from Amfissa, which they left permanently in the mid-19th century. Their activities were focused on trade and the cultivation of currants. Eugenia had two sisters, Rosa and Terpni. Rosa married Vasileios Katsigeras, an engineer, and they lived in Basel, Switzerland, where they had a daughter, Elli, who became a pianist. Terpni married Karolos Vryakos, who pursued a career in the Navy. In 1914, he was promoted to Vice Admiral and invented a method to ensure the destructive impact of floating mines. He resigned from the Navy in 1922, after the execution of his close friend Protopapadakis, one of the six executed for failure during the Asia Minor Catastrophe. After settling his family in Paris, namely his wife Terpni and their daughters Mary and Ina, he went to Ethiopia as an engineer. She died in Athens in 1966.
